Fourth of July

Happy Birthday America...and mom!

Benjamin and I went to see Transformers 2 and then headed to RAF Feltwell for the fireworks.  We went with Benjamin's friend, Nick and his fiance Rory. Obviously none of us had ever been to the celebration on Feltwell before. It was very interesting. There were tons of rides, almost like the Fort Bragg carnival in Fayetteville. The most interesting part was that the celebration was open to the British as well. So here we are celebrating our independence from British, with the British. It was awesome! We ran into our friend Tim who is friends with a Brit, Ryan. Ryan wasn't sure what we were celebrating but was convinced that we were all there celebrating Thanksgiving! This has got to be the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.

We got to watch the Tops in Blue performance. Airmen try out for this opportunity and if selected go on a one year tour with the group. They sing, dance, act, and play instruments. It was really fun. The best part was when they would sing country songs and the British were looking very confused yet some of them were tapping their feet along. PS They don't play country music here. The best part was when they sang "And I'm Proud to be an American" and we standing right behind some Brits. However, as we sang the words to that song it meant something different to me this year. We ARE proud to be Americans and because of that we are stationed in another country to support our own. It just made me miss living in America. BUT...I woke up today and was like, "Wow, I live in England and it's awesome!" It's a bittersweet feeling.
